[04-23-2026] Kern County, CA – Woman Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle in Oildale

A woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Oildale, Kern County, on Thursday night, April 23, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded just before 10 p.m. in the 1200 block of N. Chester Avenue near Ferguson Avenue.

CHP officers reported that the driver was traveling northbound on N. Chester Avenue when 58-year-old Diana T. of Bakersfield entered the roadway outside of a crosswalk.

Medical personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Impairment is not known at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
