A 30-year-old male rider was killed after a collision between a motorcycle and a tow truck in the Chula Vista area early Wednesday morning, April 26, 2023.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling northbound on I-805, south of Telegraph Canyon Road, when it crashed into the back of a stopped tow truck at the center divider around 6:00 a.m.
The rider was transported to the hospital with severe injuries. He was later proclaimed dead. The tow truck driver did not sustain any injuries.
The identity of the deceased motorcycle rider has not been released pending notification of his family.
The motorcycle accident caused the temporary closure of the number one lane of I-805 northbound and HOV lane.
It has not yet been determined whether alcohol or drugs are factors in the accident. The authorities are still investigating the crash.
