What to Do After Single-Vehicle Accident

Being involved in a single-vehicle accident can be a stressful and overwhelming experience. Whether due to poor road conditions, a mechanical failure, or driver error, it’s important to know what to do after an accident to ensure your safety and protect your legal rights. This article will review the steps you should take after a single-vehicle accident.

  1. Check for injuries: Check yourself and any passengers in your vehicle for damages. If anyone is injured, call 911 immediately for medical assistance.
  2. Move to a safe location: If possible, move your vehicle to a secure location off the road, such as a parking lot or the shoulder of the road.
  3. Call the police: Even if the accident was a single-vehicle accident, it’s still important to call the police to report the incident.
  4. Gather information: Collect information about the accident, including the location, time, and date. Take photos of the scene, including any damage to your vehicle.
  5. Contact your insurance company: Notify your insurance company of the accident and provide them with any relevant information.
  6. Seek medical attention: Even if you feel fine, it’s a good idea to get checked out by a doctor to ensure that you don’t have any underlying injuries.
  7. Consult with an attorney: If you have been injured in the accident, consider speaking with an attorney specializing in personal injury law to understand your rights and legal options.
