[05-04-2023] Fatal Train Accident in Beaumont Claims Life of PedestrianA man was fatally struck and killed by a train in Beaumont on Thursday evening, May 4, 2023.

According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Union Pacific Railroad tracks at Pennsylvania Avenue.

The report said the train struck the man as it traveled east through the San Gorgonio Pass. It was unclear why he was on the tracks, and his identity was not immediately released.

The authorities closed the rail line to conduct a preliminary investigation, and Pennsylvania Avenue was shut down.

Both were reopened just after midnight on Friday.

The investigation is still in progress.
