[05-11-2025] Los Angeles County, CA – One Killed, Another Critically Injured After Car Crashes Into Pedestrians on Sidewalk in Westlake

One man was killed and another was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle that jumped a sidewalk following a two-car collision in the Westlake area of Los Angeles late Sunday night, May 11, 2025.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. at the intersection of Eighth and Alvarado streets. A vehicle traveling southbound on Alvarado Street collided with a vehicle traveling westbound on Eighth Street.

The impact caused the southbound vehicle to veer onto the sidewalk at the southwest corner of the intersection, striking two men who were walking in the area.

Both pedestrians were transported to a hospital. A 45-year-old man was pronounced dead, while the second man remains in critical condition. Their identities have not been released.

Details regarding the drivers involved have not yet been disclosed. The crash remains under investigation.
