[05-14-2023] Pedestrian Fatally Struck by a Vehicle on 10 Freeway in East Los AngelesA pedestrian died after being struck by a hit-and-run car in East Los Angeles on Sunday evening, May 14, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred at 10:09 p.m. on Eastbound lanes east of Campus Drive.

According to the report, the pedestrian was crossing eastbound lanes east of Campus Drive when struck by a vehicle, including a dark BMW, which fled the scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on-site, and no description of the person was provided.

As a result, a SigAlert was issued, closing down three lanes near Campus Drive and redirecting traffic to the Long Beach (710) Freeway. The roadway was reopened early Monday morning.

The investigation is ongoing.
