[05-19-2023] San Bernardino County, CA – Three People Killed Following Two-Vehicle Collision in Mountain Pass

Three people were killed following a two-vehicle collision in Mountain Pass, San Bernardino County, on Friday afternoon, May 19, 2021.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 4:18 p.m. south of Yates Well Road on northbound Interstate 15, when a gray sedan was on its side on the right shoulder, and a white sedan was in the middle of the lanes, with no one departing from either vehicle.

Authorities reported that two occupants of a 2015 Toyota Camry were unresponsive, and a possible engine was in the middle of the road. Three people were pronounced dead after the traffic collision.

The reporting party who called dispatch said she received an accident alert notification from her son’s phone. She believed he was involved in the collision.

The CHP stopped vehicles north of Bailey Road because all lanes were closed. CalTrans was instructed to respond, implement a firm closure on all three lanes, and attempt to redirect traffic through the center divider.
