According to the California Highway Patrol, a 27-year-old Simi Valley man died in a two-vehicle crash while riding a motorcycle on Highway 118 late Saturday night, May 21, 2022.
The fatal collision transpired around 11:20 p.m. on the westbound highway, east of Rocky Peak Road.
According to the CHP’s West Valley office, the rider was riding a white 2008 Suzuki GXS-R westbound in the left lane at high speed.
The rider made an “unsafe turning movement” to the right, which collided with the back of a blue Toyota Tundra pickup truck traveling westbound in the left lane when combined with his unsafe speed.
The motorcycle rider was thrown from the vehicle and landed in a traffic lane.
Life-saving measures were taken by emergency personnel. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11:40 p.m. by Ventura County firefighters.
According to CHP officials, the pickup truck driver, whose age and city of residence were not immediately available midday Sunday, was not injured. There were no arrests made.
The rider’s identity was withheld until his family had been notified.
