Four people were injured after a three-vehicle collision at Byron Highway in Brentwood on Wednesday evening, May 31, 2023.
According to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the incident occurred on Byron Highway near Orwood around 8:44 p.m.
Engine 99 firefighters were first at the scene and found two people trapped in their vehicle, one with a head injury and another unconscious but with a pulse. Two other people sustained minor injuries and were medically cleared.
Two medical helicopters were requested to transport the two victims, but only one patient was allowed to fly. The second patient was transported by ground by medics at the scene.
