[06-03-2022] San Diego County, CA- One Woman Killed, Man Injured in Fatal Plane Crash Near Oceanside AirportA woman was killed, and a man was injured when the skydiving plane they were in crashed in a field near Oceanside Municipal Airport on Friday afternoon, June 3, 2022.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the single-engine Cessna 208B Caravan went down about 1:45 p.m. just east of Bob Maxwell Memorial Field as the pilot attempted to land at the airfield near state Route 76.

Oceanside Fire Department Battalion Chief Justin Klopfenstein said firefighters had to use hydraulic-powered cutters to open the door to free the occupants of the damaged plane.

The man and woman, both GoJump Oceanside employees, were taken to the hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead.

In the late afternoon, the man’s condition was still unknown.

The cause of the crash was unknown at the time.

The FAA is still investigating the crash along with the National Transportation Safety Board.
