One person was killed, while another one was severely injured after being struck by a car in Bakersfield on Sunday evening, June 4, 2023.
The Bakersfield Police Department said the incident occurred at 11:00 p.m. at Union and 8th Street.
According to the report, the two pedestrians were crossing the street outside the designated crosswalk when they were struck by the oncoming vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two adults with significant injuries. Unfortunately, one victim was pronounced dead, while the other was transported to a nearby hospital with severe injuries.
The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The investigation is ongoing.
