[06-06-2023] Butte County, CA – 57-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle in Palermo

A 57-year-old male pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Palermo, Butte County, late Tuesday evening, June 6, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m. on Highway 70 at Grover Lane in Palermo, south of Oroville.

Authorities stated that a 34-year-old male from Oroville, Phanat K., was driving his 2019 Honda CRV northbound on Highway 70 near Grover Lane when the victim was walking eastbound, crossing the northbound lanes.

Officials reported that the driver saw the man and attempted to avoid striking him, but the front end of his Honda struck the man, causing his death. Until notification of next of kin, the victim’s identity is withheld.
