Fatal Rollover Crash Statistics
In a rollover accident, a car flips over onto its side or top. Rollover collisions kill more people than other types of collisions.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, rollovers account for about 3% of all car accidents. Around 35% of all passenger vehicle fatalities are caused by a rollover or tip-over accident.
Excessive speed is the most common cause of rollover crashes, whether involving a single car or a group of cars. A collision between two vehicles at a high rate of speed is almost always fatal.
A rollover accident can occur even if you are the most prepared and cautious driver. When dealing with a rollover, it’s crucial to stay calm and avoid making any sudden movements or overcorrections, as you could end up tilting your vehicle too far the other way.
Your vehicle will automatically correct itself if everything goes well. Before attempting to exit the vehicle, please wait for it to come to a complete stop.
