[06-09-2023] Elderly Man Killed, Elderly Woman Injured After Truck Overturned in Shelter ValleyAn elderly man was killed, and his elderly female passenger was injured when their truck overturned in Shelter Valley, San Diego County,  on Friday afternoon, June 9, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Highway S2, south of State Route 78, around 3:30 p.m.

CAL FIRE Capt. Thomas S. said that a Chevrolet pickup truck was heading northbound on Highway S2 when the driver lost control, crashed on the desert highway, and ended up on its roof. Motorists passing by rendered aid to the elderly pair.

The driver died at the scene. The passenger was airlifted to an Imperial County hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
