A 69-year-old man identified as Randall James L. was killed after a deadly wrong-way traffic crash in Redding on Friday night, June 10, 2022.
The collision transpired at approximately 9:18 p.m. on Interstate 5, north of Market Street, overcrossing in Redding.
A 2014 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling northbound in the number one lane when it collided with an oncoming 2005 Ford Explorer pickup.
The Ford Explorer pickup driver was traveling in the wrong lanes. The Ford Explorer went south in the asphalt-paved center median of northbound I-5.
Following the initial collision, the Chevrolet then crashed into the left side of a 2015 Kenworth truck-tractor traveling northbound in the No. 2 lane.
The driver of the 2005 Ford Explorer pickup was killed in the mishap and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Equinox driver was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.
Information about the acccident is limited at the moment. An active investigation of the case is currently underway.
