Three people inside the tent sustained unspecified injuries in the mishap. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
No arrests have been made at the moment. The California Highway Patrol is further investigating the case.
Pedestrian Accident Statistics
Pedestrians are more vulnerable to road hazards than people who drive their cars. Pedestrians don’t have any protection that can avoid major injury, unlike those in cars where they have airbags and seatbelts.
Pedestrian deaths in the United States have become a major issue. Between 2007 and 2016, pedestrian deaths increased by 27%, while other traffic-related deaths decreased by 14%.
Every year, many pedestrians are injured in incidents in California, and a few people are murdered. Drivers that are inattentive, fast, drunk, or reckless cause many pedestrian accidents. They also disregard traffic laws and fail to drive in the proper direction.
The most common reasons these accidents occur are carelessness on the part of the driver, drivers that fail to give right of way, drunk driving, and speeding.
