[06-16-2023] Plumas County, CA – Male Powerline Worker Seriously Injured After 30-Foot Fall at Bucks Creek Power Station

A male powerline worker was severely injured after falling about 30 feet down a steep granite slope in Bucks Creek power station in Plumas County on Friday night, June 16, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol Northern Division of Air Operations, the incident occurred near the Bucks Creek power station in the Feather River canyon along Highway 70.

The powerline worker was rescued after falling and sustaining injuries. A supervisor took approximately two hours to reach the injured worker and send an emergency signal to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.

The challenging terrain, with a steep granite slope of about 30 feet, made the rescue operation difficult. Due to the time and location, the hoist rescue was postponed until 6:15 a.m. Saturday.

The responders at the scene provided stabilization and ensured the person’s warmth throughout the night until the rescue operation.

After the rescue, the victim was transported by air ambulance to the hospital for medical treatment.

No information regarding the victim’s identity and current condition has been disclosed at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
