[06-17-2022] San Bernardino County, CA – Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Victorville Results in One Death

One person was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in Hesperia on Friday, June 17, 2022.

According to the San Bernardino County Fire officials, the crash occurred just after 10:27 a.m. at the intersection of Hesperia and Bear Valley roads.

According to witnesses, the motorcycle driver was traveling on Bear Valley Road when he broadsided an SUV’s passenger side.

The rider’s body was discovered on Bear Valley Road after the collision, while the SUV ended up on Starbucks’ property at the southwest corner of the intersection.

Mara Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, reported that the motorcycle driver was a man and that no information about the vehicle driver’s injuries was available.

According to Hesperia Sheriff’s Station officials, the investigation closed lanes on eastbound Bear Valley Road from Second Avenue to Hesperia Road and northbound Hesperia Road from Sequoia to Bear Valley roads.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Division has not disclosed the identity of the deceased motorcyclist.

Fatal Motorcycle Accident Statistics

The US Department of Transportation’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) shows that 5,014 motorcyclists lost their lives in accidents in 2019. Since the early 1980s, motorcycle fatalities had been decreasing, but they began to rise again in 1998 and remained stable until 2008.

It is estimated that 15,527 people were injured, and 541 people died due to motorcycle accidents in California in 2017.
