[06-17-2023] San Jose Homeless Encampment Struck by Car, Four People InjuredA driver and three camp residents were injured and hospitalized after a car crashed at a nearby homeless encampment in San Jose on Saturday night, June 19, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on the East Capitol Expressway on-ramp.

The vehicle swerved off the on-ramp on I-680, causing harm to four people at a homeless encampment nearby. Those injured, consisting of the driver and three individuals residing at the camp, were taken to the hospital to treat minor injuries.

Authorities are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
