Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Single-vehicle collisions are among California’s most dangerous car accidents, but many drivers are unaware of this.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), single-vehicle accidents account for 62% of all fatal car accidents in California. Due to the high number of single-vehicle accidents in California, drivers must be aware of the various factors.
A single-vehicle collision can result from a variety of factors. A run-off-the-road collision occurs when a driver loses control of their vehicle while speeding or making sharp turns on a wet, slick road. Debris such as a large branch or something that fell from the back of a truck can be found on the road.
Your comprehensive coverage plan will likely limit your recovery in a single-car accident caused by something that isn’t your or another driver’s fault, such as a deer jumping in front of your vehicle.
Riverside County Car Accident Lawyers
Many car accident victims cannot return to work or school due to their injuries. The death of a victim does not absolve a reckless driver of responsibility. Survivors of the victim can file wrongful death lawsuits against the driver who caused the victim’s death due to negligence (or legal heirs).
Reliving their losses and grief is painful for them. Victims must testify about their losses in front of strangers in depositions and trials. A case can take months, if not years, to settle, significantly impacting one’s mental health.
If a negligent driver causes an accident, it is critical to hold them accountable. When negligence leads to an unnecessarily high death toll, accountability is critical. Wrongful death claims can be emotionally draining for grieving families, but they can also provide closure. Everyone who drives in California will benefit from this.
