[06-20-2022] Kern County, CA - One Woman Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Highway 184The California Highway Patrol reported that a car struck and killed a female pedestrian on Highway 184 on Monday night, June 20, 2022.

The crash occurred at about 10:01 p.m. on Highway 184, south of Hickory Lane.

The CHP personnel were dispatched to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

During its preliminary investigation, CHP concluded the pedestrian, a 39-year-old woman, was walking outside of a crosswalk.

Enrique T., the driver, was approaching the woman at a speed of roughly 55 mph while his car was headed south on Highway 184.

Torres struck the woman after she crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic.

According to authorities, the woman suffered serious injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Torres stayed at the scene.

The CHP stated that Torres and his passenger Rosa Cabrera avoided injury in the collision because they were both wearing seatbelts.

The name of the pedestrian will be made public later by the coroner’s office.

The department is still investigating if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
