[06-25-2023] 2 Passengers Injured, Driver Killed Following Solo-Vehicle Crash Into Tree near Camp PendletonA motorist was killed, while his two passengers were injured when their vehicle overturned after hitting a tree near Camp Pendleton, San Diego County, on Sunday afternoon, June 25, 2023.

According to California Highway Patrol officer Hunter G., the incident occurred on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 at around 1:30 p.m.

A Toyota Highlander, driven by a 21-year-old man with his two passengers, a 3-year-old girl and a 26-year-old woman, was heading northbound on the Interstate. The driver drove off the roadway for unknown reasons, struck a eucalyptus tree, and overturned.

Life-saving saving procedures were performed on the driver, but he did not survive. The passengers were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was an Inglewood resident. His passengers are from Riverdale, Georgia.

The identities of the people involved are being withheld pending the investigation.
