[06-25-2023] Male Driver Killed, Two Suffered Major Injuries After Suspected DUI Single-Vehicle Crash in SunnyvaleA male driver was killed, and two others suffered major injuries after a suspected DUI single-vehicle crash in Sunnyvale early Sunday morning, June 25, 2023.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety reported that officers received a call at approximately 2:25 a.m. regarding a vehicle crashing into a building in the western part of Old San Francisco Road.

Upon the arrival of emergency personnel, it was observed that the vehicle was entirely consumed by fire, leaving an unconscious driver and two passengers confined within. Rescue workers attempted to free the driver from the vehicle but could not due to the intense flames.

Officials said the driver died at the scene, and the male and female passengers suffered significant injuries. The two occupants were reportedly treated at a local hospital and cooperated with the investigation.

Both speed and alcohol are believed to have contributed to the crash, and the authorities have not disclosed any additional information.
