[06-27-2022] Kern County, CA - 50-Year-Old Pedestrian Woman Struck And Killed by Vehicle in OlidaleAccording to the California Highway Patrol, a woman identified as 50-year-old Bakersfield resident Christina W. was struck and killed by a car in Oildale Monday night.

According to CHP, the collision transpired at approximately 8:53 p.m at N. Chester and Lincoln Avenue.

According to preliminary investigation, 55-year-old Richard W., the SUV’s driver, was moving in the second lane of southbound N. Chester Avenue at a speed of about 40 mph. Outside of a designated crosswalk, the woman was crossing N. Chester in the direction of the west.

The pedestrian continued walking westbound across the southbound lanes after a car in the first lane of N. Chester was able to slow down to avoid colliding with him, according to CHP.

Wesson was unable to stop, slow down, or avoid the collision, and the woman was struck by the right front of the SUV.

She received medical attention, but she was declared dead at the scene.

Wesson, according to the CHP, remained at the scene and assisted with the investigation.

He was not intoxicated or using drugs at the time of the accident, according to the investigation.

The possibility that the woman was under the influence of drugs or alcohol has not yet been ruled out.

Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
