Two people were hospitalized after a hazardous chemical leak near Tehachapi late Tuesday morning, June 27, 2023.
According to the Kern County Fire Department, the incident happened around 11:00 a.m. at a Revol Greens facility on Pellisier Road.
The facility sounded the alarm after detecting anhydrous ammonia, a deadly corrosive gas used as a refrigerant.
About twenty-one people were reportedly exposed and treated, while two people had to be transported to a local hospital. Their current condition remains unknown.
Fire officials managed to stop and contain the leak. The authorities have not shared any further details about the incident.
