[07-01-2023] 1 Woman Killed Following Suspected DUI Two-Vehicle Collision Near OceansideA woman was killed in a roll-over crash after being rear-ended by a suspected DUI driver near Oceanside on Saturday evening, July 1, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on the westbound lanes of State Route 78, west of Melrose Drive, at around 9:30 p.m.

Nicholas G. of Vista, a 22-year-old man, was driving his Toyota Corolla with his 18-year-old passenger when he crashed into the rear-end of a Kia Spectra driven by the victim of unknown age. Both vehicles crashed into the wall following the collision resulting in the victim’s vehicle rolling over.

The Kia female driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Toyota driver and his passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

After treatment, Gordon was arrested for suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
