[07-03-2022] Riverside County, CA - One Person Killed in Deadly Two-Vehicle Crash Caused by Street Racing in Jurupa ValleyAccording to sheriff’s officials, a fiery two-vehicle collision killed one person and injured another in Jurupa Valley Sunday, July 3, 2022.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred at 10:21 p.m. Saturday in the 7100 block of Sierra Avenue.

A 2001 Lexus and a 2019 Lexus were street racing in Jurupa Valley, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Witnesses told investigators that the 2001 vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Chevy Silverado head-on while traveling at a high rate of speed on Sierra Avenue in the south.

According to sheriff’s officials, both vehicles caught fire, trapping their drivers inside the burning wreckage. Firefighters from Riverside County douse the flames and used hydraulic equipment to free the two drivers.

The sheriff’s department reported that the driver of the 2001 Lexus, whose name was not released, was declared dead at the scene. The second driver was injured, including burns, and was taken to the hospital.

The 2019 Lexus’s driver was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter and was held at the Robert Presley Detention Center while cooperating with the investigation. The suspect’s name was not made public by the authorities.
