[07-03-2023] Alameda County, CA – Hit-and-Run Crash Killed 94-Year-Old Woman and Injured Two Others in Oakland

A 94-year-old woman died, while two others were injured when a hit-and-run vehicle ran a stop sign and collided with their car in Oakland on Monday evening, July 3, 2023.

The local authorities said the incident occurred just before 7:00 p.m. along Bancroft Avenue.

Based on the report, Tony C. was driving his white Mercedes with his mother and grandmother in the back seats when a speeding Dodge Challenger disregarded a stop sign and crashed into their car.

Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene and transported Cheng, her son, and her mother to the hospital. Tragically, the 94-year-old grandmother passed away shortly after admission.

The impact was severe, and according to the police, the driver and a passenger in the Dodge promptly exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Although the driver managed to evade capture, law enforcement officers apprehended the passenger, who now faces charges related to firearms possession.

The authorities are currently refraining from disclosing the identity of the driver sought as they continue their investigation.
