[07-05-2026] San Diego County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Van on Clairemont Mesa Blvd.

A 36-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a van in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego early Sunday morning, July 5, 2026.

According to the San Diego Police Department, officers responded to the incident at around 1:20 a.m. at the 7300 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.

Authorities said the pedestrian was crossing the street mid-block when he was struck by a 2010 Volkswagen Routan driven by a 42-year-old woman. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said the driver was not arrested. The San Diego Police Department Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
