According to the Tulare Police Department, a pedestrian is in the hospital following a hit-and-run crash in Tulare on Friday, July 8, 2022.
The crash occurred Friday afternoon, and the vehicle was then seen in the area of Martin Luther King Avenue and O Street. It was seen a third time heading east on Kern Avenue from R Street.
The suspect vehicle, a black Jeep, was reportedly first spotted traveling quickly near K Street and Bardsley Avenue.
According to police, the driver made a u-turn in response to the attempted traffic stop, and the officer lost sight of the car as it was traveling westbound on Kern Avenue, close to O Street. Officers were alerted to a pedestrian who had been hit by a car shortly after that.
Police claim witnesses told them the car sped through barriers blocking the road and an event goer. The car then accelerated and left the area.
The victim was taken to the hospital after suffering severe injuries. Later, the suspect car was discovered in a field near Martin Luther King Avenue and K Street. The driver was last reportedly seen running away, according to witnesses.
