[07-09-2022] Los Angeles County, CA - 68-Year-Old Los Angeles Man Dies After Two-Vehicle Crash in Long BeachA 68-year-old Los Angeles man was killed in Long Beach when his vehicle sped into the back of a sedan, veered onto a center median, and crashed into a support pillar of the San Diego (405) Freeway Saturday, July 9, 2022.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the fatal crash occurred at 8:57 a.m. on the northbound side of Lakewood Boulevard at the San Diego Freeway.

Bystanders tried to help the driver in the 2007 Kia Spectra until Long Beach firefighters took over, extricated him, and rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His identity was kept private.

Unaware of his involvement in the collision, the 32-year-old Bellflower man driving the 2016 Toyota Corolla rear-ended and fled the scene. He later returned and assisted with the investigation, according to police.
