[07-10-2026] Riverside County, CA – Person in Motorized Wheelchair Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle in Hemet

A person using a motorized wheelchair was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Hemet on Friday night, July 10, 2026.

According to authorities, the incident was reported around 8:56 p.m. at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Menlo Avenue.

Hemet Fire Department crews arrived to find the victim on the ground while officers performed CPR. The vehicle involved came to rest a short distance from the crash site.

The victim was transported by American Medical Response ambulance to a hospital in critical condition but later died from their injuries.

Police reported that the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and additional charges. The identities of the driver and the victim have not been released.

The Hemet Police Department continues to investigate the incident, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact them.
