[07-11-2022] Los Angeles County, CA - Inmate Transport Bus involved in Two-Vehicle Collision in ValenciaAccording to the California Highway Patrol, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department inmate transporting a bus was involved in a traffic collision injuring several people in Valencia on Monday, July 11, 2022.

The collision occurred at 12:24 p.m. on the northbound side of Interstate 5 near Magic Mountain Parkway.

According to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, a spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, inmates were on the bus Transit Services Bureau that was involved in a collision on the 5 Freeway, just north of Magic Mountain Parkway.

The number of passengers on the bus at the time of the collision is unknown, but the incident involved an inmate transport bus colliding with a small Toyota.

There were 18 people on the bus, according to the dispatch radio traffic of the first responders, but that number could not be verified.

Greengard confirmed that the prisoners were going to Pitchess Detention Center to be further evaluated for any injuries, so it appeared that those in the Toyota Prius’s passengers had been hurt.

Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
