Workplace Accident Statistics

Worker fatalities are only one indicator of how safe one feels at work, but they are an eye-catching statistic. According to federal statistics, California had the fourth lowest rate of occupational deaths in the US from 2015 to 2016.

There were 180 workplace deaths in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Ventura counties in 2016. This decreased from 183 in 2015, and regional fatalities have been below 200 since 2010.

Slips, trips, falls, forceful exertions and contact with equipment are the most common workplace accidents. These injuries are usually avoidable if adequate measures are taken and followed.

Riverside County Workplace Accident Lawyers

Employers in California are obligated by law to give workers’ compensation benefits to injured employees. Although a business may opt to self-insure, most companies acquire workers’ compensation insurance through a third party. To be eligible for workers’ compensation benefits, you must demonstrate that you were injured on the job.

Even under the best conditions, recovering from a workplace accident is difficult. The mental stress of worrying about bills when you can’t work, and the physical pain from your injury can make it almost impossible. Consequently, you don’t want to complicate the procedure more than necessary.
