According to the Berkeley Police Department, the traffic crash occurred just after 6:30 p.m. at Benvenue Avenue and Parker Street in the Southside neighborhood near UC Berkeley.

How the collision happened remains unclear, but it was later confirmed that the driver of the vehicle that struck the victim was the one who reported the incident.

Upon arrival, police found the victim conscious and breathing. She was then rushed to Highland Hospital for further medical care after sustaining a head injury. Further information about the victim’s identity, including her name, age, and place of origin, was unavailable at the time of writing.

It is not immediately known if the driver remained at the scene after calling the police about the collision. It is also still unclear if alcohol, drugs, or speeding played a role in the accident.
