[07-17-2023] One Person Injured After DUI Hit-And-Run Collision Involving Five Vehicles in HesperiaA person was injured after a five-vehicle chain reaction collision caused by a DUI driver who fled the scene in Hesperia on Monday evening, July 17, 2023.

The Hesperia Police Department responded to the Highway 395 and Main Street intersection accident by 9:00 p.m.

There were nearly 15 cars at a complete stop at the intersection while a red Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on the highway. At approximately 50 mph, the Chevrolet collided with the rear end of a black Kia Optima, causing a chain reaction collision involving five vehicles.

One person was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries, and the rest did not report any injuries. The suspect fled the scene on foot and headed southeast into the desert. The parties involved in the traffic collision couldn’t stop the suspect from leaving.

Christian J., identified as the suspect, was found in the desert under the influence of alcohol. A field sobriety test led to his arrest. After being treated at a local hospital for his injuries, he was cited for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level over 0.8%.

No other identities and conditions have been disclosed.
