[07-17-2023] One Man Killed, Two Children Injured After Traffic Collision in FallbrookOne man was killed while two children were injured after a traffic collision in San Diego County on Monday night, July 17, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol and North County Fire Protection District reported that the accident happened around 8:30 p.m. on southbound Interstate 15, located north of State Route 76.

The 43-year-old driver of a Toyota Tacoma was traveling south on Interstate 15 south of Stewart Canyon Road when, for undetermined reasons, he collided with the center divider guardrail and rolled his vehicle.

After the collision, the individual exited his vehicle and was struck by a southbound Toyota Corolla on the Interstate.

The Tacoma driver, identified as an Escondido resident, died before being transported to a hospital. The driver of the Corolla, identified as a Hemit resident, was not hurt, but two children in the car – ages 11 and 12 – received minor injuries. The authorities have not disclosed their identities.

During the investigation into the crash, investigators closed lanes on the freeway to gather evidence. The collision was not suspected to be caused by alcohol or drugs.
