According to Los Angeles County Fire Department, several critically injured victims were transported to nearby helicopters after a two-vehicle crash in Malibu on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 7:40 p.m. on Kanan Dume Road and Zumirez Drive.
The LAFD decided to transport the victims in the backseats of the lifeguards’ pickup trucks to avoid the long wait. According to the department, one ambulance was approximately 50 minutes away.
Crews assisted and transported three patients, all of whom were critically ill.
