According to the California Highway Patrol, a man was killed after being struck by a car while attempting to cross Highway 99 on foot on Saturday, July 23, 2022.
According to the CHP, a pedestrian was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Highway 99 south of Cecil Avenue when she was struck by the side-view mirror of a 2012 Audi traveling at approximately 70 mph.
The collision knocked the pedestrian to the ground in the No. 2 lane, where a 2012 Chevrolet ran him over.
According to CHP officers, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have played a role in the accident.
The pedestrian’s identity has not yet been revealed.
