Pedestrian Accident Statistics

The number of pedestrians killed or seriously injured on California’s highways is increasing. More individuals are walking to work, school, shopping, exercising, and just being outside. However, walking is becoming increasingly unsafe in an era when we promote it as a healthy, beneficial, and community-building alternative to driving.

According to the National Highway Road Safety Administration (NHTSA), California ranks 11th in the U.S. for pedestrian deaths in 2018. Moreover, pedestrian traffic deaths in our state increased by 13% in the first half of 2019.

These figures show an alarming number of families who have suffered the heartbreaking loss of a loved one due to a pedestrian versus car collision. When a pedestrian accident occurs, a knowledgeable attorney may assist bereaved family members in seeking justice and monetary compensation for their loss.

Stanislaus County Pedestrian Accident Lawyers

Not everyone has legal recourse for the wrongful death of a loved one. In most circumstances, it will be the deceased’s spouse or children. In cases when the deceased was single and had no children, the decedent’s parents or siblings may claim damages.

Capturing and recovering the full economic worth of a wrongful death claim is an art. A qualified attorney will access helpful resources, such as financial experts, who may help bereaved families maximize their financial recovery. While money can never bring back a loved one, it can help reduce the stress caused by the financial consequences of the loss.
