A 60-year-old bicyclist was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Chula Vista on Monday morning, July 24, 2023.
According to Chula Vista Police, the collision occurred on South Bay Road near Palomar Street at around 11:00 a.m.
The report said the elderly man was cycling north on Bay Boulevard when a white sedan or SUV hit him from behind.
Paramedics promptly transported the injured bicyclist to a hospital to treat what appeared to be minor injuries.
After the collision, the vehicle’s driver continued to flee the scene, taking the nearby Interstate 5 onramp and heading south, as reported by Sgt. Anthony Molina.
The investigation is ongoing.
