[07-27-2023] Elderly Man Killed, Another Injured After UTV Crash near New Hogan ReservoirAn elderly man was killed, while another was injured after a UTV crash in Calaveras County on Thursday evening, July 27, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol and Calaveras Consolidated Fire Department responded to the accident near the Oak Knoll Campground at an unspecified time.

The 70-year-old Valley Springs resident drove a side-by-side gator-style vehicle near Oak Knoll Campground on a pedestrian trail. When he tried to turn around, the vehicle rolled down an embankment about 20 feet.

The emergency responders hiked into the remote area to conduct a rescue operation. It was reported that the UTV driver died while another male sustained minor injuries.

The authorities have not disclosed their identities as their investigation into the crash continues.
