[07-28-2023] Orange County, CA – Teenage Boy Seriously Injured After Hit-And-Run Crash in Tustin Street Takeover

A teenage boy was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver involved in an illegal street takeover in Tustin on Friday night, July 28, 2023.

According to the Tustin Police Department, assisted by several officers from the Irvine Police Department, authorities were dispatched near Park and Warner avenues at around 11:40 p.m. for reports of street racers speeding up and down Tustin Ranch Road.

During the event, a teenage boy was hospitalized due to several broken bones after being struck by a dark sedan doing burnouts. The boy is now in good condition and is expected to recover.

The report determined 300 vehicles were involved during the takeover. Officers established a secure perimeter, towed 51 vehicles, and impounded 18 others, issuing 20 citations for violations.

The individuals involved in the incident have not been disclosed as the investigation is still underway.

Police are still searching for the driver of that dark sedan.
