[07-30-2022] San Joaquin County, CA - Motorcyclist Running from Officers Dies After Crashing Into Pick-Up Truck in LodiAccording to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcyclist died after a crash where he slammed into another vehicle while running from law enforcement in Lodi late Saturday evening, July 30, 2022.

According to CHP, the crash occurred at around 11:44 p.m. on State Route 12 west of Interstate 5.

According to a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol, one of its officers witnessed a man who was 31 years old riding a Harley-Davidson at a high rate of speed.

The officer made several attempts to stop the motorcyclist, but the rider did not pull over, which led to a brief police pursuit.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the motorcyclist was traveling approximately 70 miles per hour eastbound on Harney Lane approximately five minutes later while approaching Stockton Street.

While there was a solid green left turn arrow on at this time, a driver in a pickup truck was performing a U-turn from westbound Harney Lane. The motorcyclist ran a red light and was involved in a crash with a pickup truck after colliding with its rear end.

According to the CHP, the rider was ejected during this collision and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was taken to San Joaquin County General Hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and died there.

Nobody inside the pickup truck was hurt when the accident occurred. Besides the fact that he lived in Stockton, very little is known about the motorcyclist who was involved in the crash.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
