Authorities confirmed that a woman and young girl were killed in a fatal multi-vehicle collision at the Rialto Intersection on Monday night.
The accident occurred just before 7 p.m. in front of a gas station near Riverside Avenue and Valley Boulevard.
The woman and the young girl did trap inside their burning Kia Sorento.
According to the authorities, they tried to pull the woman and young girl from the flames, but it became too dangerous. Both of them perished there.
The involved unidentified man was driving too fast on Valley Boulevard, which collided with another car that stopped at the intersection. A series of crashes followed the collision.
After the collision, onlookers tried to extinguish the flames.
Unfortunately, the speeding driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are still looking into the driver’s speed.
Five vehicles, including two that were mangled after the collision, have significant damage, as can be seen in the video from the scene. After the crash, those two cars started to burn.
Two other cars appeared to have minor damage and were parked close by accident. Two more drivers were taken by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds.
There is currently no evidence that alcohol played a role in the collision.
The accident’s cause is still under investigation.
