Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident Statistics
One of the most terrifying experiences a person can have is getting into an accident due to another driver’s carelessness.
Sadly, there are far too many hit-and-runs every year. In 2016, two thousand forty-nine people lost their lives in hit-and-run incidents in the US. According to a recent study, over 680,000 hit-and-runs are reported in the US annually. Every week, a pedestrian in the United States dies in a car.
In the event of an accident brought on by a careless driver, pedestrians might not be able to respond right away.
The number of pedestrian fatalities in the US has significantly increased. Pedestrian deaths increased by 27% between 2007 and 2016, while other traffic-related deaths fell by 14% during the same period.
The primary factors that lead to these collisions are driver negligence, failure to yield the right-of-way, intoxicated driving, and speeding.
