Two male drivers were injured after a two-vehicle collision likely caused by speed and alcohol in Bakersfield on Sunday evening, August 6, 2023.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the accident happened around 10:21 p.m. at Panama Lane and Akers Road intersection.
A westbound vehicle ran a red light on Panama Lane and collided with a northbound vehicle on Akers Road. Then, it struck a brick wall at the intersection’s northwest corner.
The westbound driver’s injuries were moderate, while the northbound driver’s injuries were major. Both of them were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
There was no disclosure of the identities of the people involved.
It is believed that speed and alcohol played a role in the crash, as the investigation continues.
