An elderly couple in their 60s was struck by a hit-and-run driver, killing the husband in a clearly marked Laguna Beach crosswalk Thursday, August 11, 2022.
The authorities reported the crash at 9:38 p.m. at S. Coast Highway and Pearl Street.
A silver 2009 Volkswagen Jetta hit the two Costa Mesa residents as they crossed S. Coast Highway in a clearly marked and well-lit crosswalk. Their second-anniversary dinner at Rumari Restaurant had just ended.
The husband, Stanley I., was identified by Laguna Beach police, and he passed away from his wounds after allegedly pushing his wife out of the way to save her.
His wife, Cathy, was treated for minor wounds and discharged from the hospital.
Isaacs passed away in the hospital where they were taken.
