[08-11-2022] San Diego County, CA - DUI Two-Vehicle Collision Results in Multiple Injuries on SR-94According to the California Highway Patrol, a DUI two-vehicle crash injured multiple people on state Route 94 Thursday, August 11, 2022.

According to the CHP spokesperson Jesse Matias, the crash occurred around 1:00 p.m. on SR-94 eastbound, west of Interstate 805.

The driver of a Cadillac sedan, a 37-year-old man, crashed into a GMC sport utility vehicle driven by a 21-year-old San Diego woman who suffered minor injuries.

The male driver, of San Bernardino, was being treated by medical personnel in the ambulance’s back seat when Matias said he started to act uncooperatively and had to be restrained to a gurney.

The individual was then able to free himself from the gurney restraints and make an attempt to exit the ambulance’s back.

When asked to stay in the ambulance, the man displayed overt indications and symptoms of possible drug impairment, according to the authorities.

Several police officers and firefighters had to physically restrain the 37-year-old man. He was then taken to a hospital as a precaution before being arrested on suspicion of drugged driving.

The incident left no CHP officers injured. The accident’s cause is still being looked into.
