Multi-Vehicle Accident Statistics

Due to the high levels of speed and force involved, multi-vehicle collisions are among the most deadly forms of accidents on the road. Highways and busier routes with higher traffic densities are frequently the scenes of multi-vehicle accidents. Numerous factors, such as driving while distracted, intoxicated, and poor weather, might contribute to them.

Nearly 200,000 accidents in California cause injuries or fatalities each year. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, 19,938 vehicle crashes resulted in injury or death in San Diego County in 2019. That is a roughly 1.6% drop from the previous year.

A significant percentage of these accidents are preventable. Drivers must exercise due care to avoid collisions with pedestrians and other vehicles. If you are involved in a car accident, the first thing you should do is call 911. If the accident is minor and nobody is hurt, exchange information with the other driver, including license plate and insurance information. If you are hit by a driver who fails to stop, you have the right to make a citizen’s arrest.
